Volunteers are the lifeblood of Neptune Warrior, contributing their time and skills across various roles to support its mission of healing through scuba diving. 

Volunteer Instructors and Dive Masters lead training sessions and guide dives, ensuring safety and skill-building for participants. 

Dive Buddies provide one-on-one support, fostering camaraderie and encouragement underwater. Event Coordinators organize logistics for dives, fundraisers, and community outreach programs, while Ambassadors promote Neptune Warrior’s mission and build connections in the community. 

Web Specialists maintain the organization’s online presence, ensuring resources and events are easily accessible. 

Volunteers are rewarded for their efforts with perks like free or discounted training, exclusive merchandise discounts, access to special events, and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Immediate Mission Needs

We need volunteers immediately for several missions in the next few weeks:

  • Moving from Storage Units to our new warehouse
    • Building and framing walls in new location
    • Need to move gear from our location in Meridian to East Boise. Trucks and trailers helpful
  • Mapping
    • Placing dive sites on the map
  • Underwater Videography

Dive Buddies and Training Assistants

As a Dive Buddy or Training Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting Neptune Warrior participants. Dive Buddies focus on one-on-one support during dives, helping participants feel safe and confident. Training Assistants work with instructors and Dive Masters to manage training sessions and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dive Buddies: Provide one-on-one assistance during dives, offer encouragement, and help participants with skills and safety.
  • Training Assistants: Help set up equipment, assist instructors, monitor safety during training sessions, and support group activities.


Qualifications:

  • Rescue certification or higher.
  • Passion for helping others and supporting Neptune Warrior’s mission.

Dive Buddies focus on personal connection, while Training Assistants handle broader training logistics in the pool under the guidance of an instructor. Both roles are crucial in creating a safe and empowering experience for participants. 

Community Outreach

As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding Neptune Warrior’s impact within the community. This dynamic position involves representing the organization at booths and events, building relationships with potential sponsors, and cultivating donations to support our programs. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to identify grant opportunities and assist in writing compelling proposals to secure funding. Additionally, you’ll engage with local military units, promoting training opportunities and fostering partnerships to bring healing and adventure to veterans. Whether it’s networking with local businesses, coordinating outreach efforts, or brainstorming innovative ways to engage the community, your efforts will directly support our mission of helping veterans and divers thrive through the power of scuba.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Neptune Warrior at community events, trade shows, and information booths.
  • Build and maintain relationships with sponsors and donors to secure financial and in-kind contributions.
  • Research and assist in grant writing to support program growth.
  • Reach out to military units to coordinate training and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop and execute community outreach strategies to raise awareness about Neptune Warrior’s mission.
  • Collaborate with the team to organize and manage fundraising campaigns and events.

Construction and Maintenance

As a Construction and Maintenance Volunteer, you will be essential in ensuring the functionality, safety, and appeal of Neptune Warrior’s facilities. From maintaining and improving our signature SIT by the Pit outdoor gathering area to organizing and optimizing our gear warehouse, your contributions will directly impact the quality of experiences we provide to our veterans and divers. Additionally, you will assist with the upkeep of rented facilities, ensuring they meet the high standards required for our programs and events. Whether it’s constructing new features, performing routine maintenance, or troubleshooting facility issues, your work will help create welcoming and functional spaces for our community.





Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve SIT by the Pit, including firepit upkeep, seating arrangements, and outdoor enhancements.
  • Organize and manage the gear warehouse to ensure equipment is stored efficiently and securely.
  • Perform basic repairs, maintenance, and upgrades to facilities as needed.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of rented spaces for events, training sessions, and gatherings.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute larger construction or renovation projects.
  • Ensure facilities comply with safety standards and are ready for use at all times.

Volunteer Dive Masters

As a 

Volunteer Dive Master for Neptune Warrior, you will be instrumental in creating a safe, supportive, and transformative underwater experience for our participants. In this role, you will adhere to the strict protocols and holistic philosophies that define Neptune Warrior, ensuring that every dive is conducted with the utmost safety, professionalism, and purpose. Beyond guiding dives, you will play a critical role in coaching participants, helping them translate skills learned underwater into tools for everyday life. This unique position goes beyond traditional Dive Master responsibilities, as Neptune Warrior provides additional training focused on our mission to empower veterans and divers through meaningful aquatic experiences.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold Neptune Warrior’s strict safety protocols, mission, and philosophies during all diving activities.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to divers, fostering confidence and self-discovery underwater.
  • Assist with “moving in water” sessions, ensuring participants feel supported and safe while mastering skills.
  • Facilitate the translation of underwater lessons—such as calmness, focus, and resilience—into actionable life skills.
  • Support instructors in training sessions, dive logistics, and equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism and positivity, creating a welcoming environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • Current Dive Master certification from a recognized agency (NAUI, PADI, SSI, or equivalent).
  • Completion of additional Neptune Warrior Dive Master training (provided).
  • Strong commitment to Neptune Warrior’s mission and a passion for supporting veterans and the diving community.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to participants' unique needs and challenges.

Volunteer Instructors

As a Volunteer Instructor 

with Neptune Warrior, you are entrusted with the critical role of teaching, mentoring, and guiding participants through life-changing underwater experiences. You will adhere to Neptune Warrior’s strict protocols and philosophies, which emphasize safety, professionalism, and holistic healing. In addition to teaching diving skills, you will coach participants on how to apply lessons learned in the water—such as mindfulness, resilience, and problem-solving—to their everyday lives. Neptune Warrior provides additional training to complement your instructor certification, ensuring you are fully equipped to deliver our unique approach to scuba diving and veteran empowerment.





Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead scuba diving training sessions, including pool and open-water dives, while adhering to Neptune Warrior’s standards and protocols.
  • Provide personalized coaching and mentorship to participants, fostering confidence and skill mastery.
  • Facilitate “moving in water” sessions, emphasizing how underwater lessons can translate to real-life skills such as focus, calmness, and overcoming challenges.
  • Ensure safety, inclusivity, and positive reinforcement in all interactions with participants.
  • Assist in training and mentoring Dive Masters and other volunteers to uphold Neptune Warrior’s mission and philosophies.
  • Support participants with unique needs, adapting instruction methods to accommodate physical, emotional, or psychological challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Current Scuba Instructor certification from a recognized agency (NAUI, PADI, SSI, or equivalent).
  • Completion of additional Neptune Warrior Instructor training (provided).
  • Strong alignment with Neptune Warrior’s mission and a passion for empowering veterans and divers.
  • Exceptional teaching, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt and tailor instruction to meet diverse participant needs.
